Welcome to the fourth edition of the Silver Creek's Newsletter.
As we continue to self-isolate for the well-being of our country, the theme of this week's newsletter is a fitting one. Transportation is taken for granted in our daily lives. Cars, trucks, buses, boats, trains and planes take us places we need to go. Today, transportation takes on a whole new meaning.
We are thankful for the trucks and truckers who are transporting our food, for our ships and planes that transport the much needed medical equipment to our hospitals and medical service industries. The buses that transport our essential workers to and from their work locations and the cars that allow us to purchase groceries for our neighbours or family.
As you enjoy the activities provided for this week's theme, chat with your child about how proud you are of the work being done to keep us all safe and comfortable. Discuss how our food is transported, how important your Silver Creek bus driver is and how important it is to get our support people to their jobs. Each of us plays an important role in society making things run smoothly.
Welcome to the 2nd edition of Learning Together. As we begin the third week of isolation, it is important to remember that we are doing this for each other. The next two weeks will be a turning point that we hope will be a positive one. We feel confident that all levels of our government are doing everything possible to keep us safe. We hope you have been checking our Facebook page often. Kathleen has been reading musical stories and singing songs to enjoy together. Chloe did Facebook live "Circle Time" featuring one of Silver Creek's favourite stories. Please follow us on Facebook so that you don't miss all the upcoming online events we have planned for you.
This week's newsletter provides several activities such as how to create your own book, make a grocery store and have fun with the alphabet. Included are some great ideas for developing an at home routine, fun ways to encourage communication and some toileting tips.
Welcome to Learning Together, our objective is to help you facilitate an enjoyable, educational and safe learning experience for your children within their daily lives. When Schools are closed, it doesn't mean that the learning stops.
Welcome to Silver Creek! To our returning families, we look forward to working closely with you to continue to achieve the goals and outcomes that are important for your child. To our new families, we will delight in forming a relationship with you and your child and working together to help your child be all that she/he can be.
The work of children is play. As a team of dedicated Early Childhood Educators, PT, OT, Speech & Music therapists, support personnel, office staff and community volunteers we strive to make this a happy, safe, challenging and fun place for your child. Silver Creek staff are enthusiastic professionals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of our students.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a healthy year as we work together on behalf of the children during these important early learning years.
This resource package is designed for the families of children attending the Silver Creek Pre-School. It is intended as a guide for accessing services and supports that may enhance your child’s development. While not comprehensive, the information is intended as a starting point to help you support your child. Each child has his/her own unique abilities. This resource is designed to help you find supports, beyond the Silver Creek Pre-School that may be useful to your child and family and are within the Greater Toronto Area and more specifically the geographic area served by Silver Creek.
