Silver Creek has a rich history of volunteerism--we were founded by volunteers and 40 years later volunteers continue to play a strong role in our thriving organization--in the classroom, the office, in our newly constructed naturalized play space, and on the Board of Directors. And many of our fundraising activities were established by volunteers from the community--these funds being crucial to the operations of Silver Creek.
We always welcome volunteer help. You must be over 18 years of age to participate in our volunteer program. Our Volunteer Coordinator, Sue DiBlasio, will be happy to review your application, interview you and show you the hands-on work that happens at Silver Creek. We will try to meet your needs as you so generously offer to help us. Please note that a Vulnerable Sector Police Check must be satisfactorily completed, and your immunizations up-to-date before you can start as a volunteer. We also request a minimum 10 months commitment to the program.
We encourage your support for one morning or one afternoon per week in the classroom, or to assist in the office, and/or helping at our fundraising events. We have a newly established gardening opportunity with our naturalized play space. We are run by a volunteer Board of Directors and can use your expertise in administration, finances, PR, ways and means, or positive attitude and energy! Parents are a huge bonus on the Board, as are community members.

Thank you for considering offering your time and talents to help us help the children.
Silver Creek staff and community are exceptional. The support we have received and the early learning experiences our child has had there will set him up for a more integrated life. And support my spouse and I have received has helped us so much as we navigate our roles as parents

My two hearing impaired daughters were placed in classrooms with excellent peer language role models to assist in their language and articulation development. They received individualized programs to meet their needs. Silver Creek prepared them well for mainstream kindergarten. We are forever grateful.

The staff at Silver Creek are a very special group of professionals who I find care deeply for the children they work with while at the same time pushing them to excel and surpass expectations often placed on children with disabilities. Thank you, Silver Creek!
Thank you Silver Creek Pre-School for welcoming me as an observer to your program. I learned so much about paying attention to every little detail in supporting a child who needs assistance in taking small steps to reach their larger goal. The staff at Silver Creek Pre-School are very special professionals who demonstrate how precious life is to our little children.

Since Xavier has been diagnosed with Sandhoff disease, my family’s lives have been turned upside down. It has been difficult for us to find a place for our family in the community. And then we found Silver Creek, it is like a second home to us. I would love the opportunity to give back to Silver Creek.
Silver Creek has given my son the tools that are necessary to succeed in school, and in life. Their patience and love have guided my son to develop in ways that words can’t describe. He is a confident individual who thrives on challenges and I thank Silver Creek for that. Actually, I thank all the members of Silver Creek for all they have done. It is truly a great place to be.
The staff at Silver Creek are wonderful people and amazing at what they do. They are a great resource to have as well; very knowledgeable, willing and able to help us as parents through the complicated process of raising a child with special needs. Thank you Silver Creek

The things I like about Silver Creek: 1. Playing on the computer 2. Playing dress-up with my friends 3. I like when the teachers read books to me 4. I also liked to spend time with Bill. He used to tell me jokes. They were very, very, very, very funny. 5. My favourite activity was listening to music

David flourished at Silver Creek and so did I. The staff became my friends and a great emotional support to me. They helped with equipment suggestions, sources of extra funding, and co-ordinating David’s school placement at Sunnyview P.S. Well, David moved on but I stayed. I have been on the Board of Directors since 1998, and President for the past 5 years. Silver Creek is a magical place!
We have seen tremendous gains in our daughter’s skills since she started at Silver Creek a year ago; her speech, mobility and play skills have really come along. The teachers and staff members at Silver Creek are dedicated to helping each child to reach their full potential and truly love what they do.
